Miraculous Ladybug fanfiction by Juliette.
Marinette started looking around the room, searching for any excuse to leave and go transform.
"I'm going to step outside for a little while. I want you to keep writing down observations while I'm gone," Mrs. Bustier said, trying to hide the urgency of the situation.
The entire class knew why she was leaving, but only Nino dared to say it out loud. "You're going to look for Adrien, aren't you."
Mrs. Bustier dismissed the comment. "I'll be right back," she said.
Marinette looked back at the screen. Mrs. Chamack was reporting at the scene.
"Unfortunately, the day Ladybug doesn't show up happens to be the hottest day in France's history," Mrs. Chamack stated. "If the heat doesn't get to Cat Noir, Stoneheart will."
The broadcast cut to the footage from the helicopter. Stoneheart threw Cat Noir against a wall, causing a shower of bricks to fall on the stone monster.
The screen went to static.
The entire classroom went into a state of frenzied panic, but settled down when the broadcast came back on. The helicopter's camera ran out of battery.
"The source of Stoneheart's power seems to be coming from a small, purple stone in the monster's right hand. Luckily, Cat Noir has the stone now, but he seems to have broken an ankle," Mrs. Chamack said as the camera zoomed in on Cat Noir, wincing in pain as he clutched his ankle. The rock sat beside him. He could easily break the stone and not have to risk another injury, but knowing him, letting the akuma get away would be a last resort, Marinette thought. He would stare into the face of death itself before letting that happen. She knew more than anyone that protecting himself was never a priority of his.
The screen went to static again. The class sat in silence.
Rose spoke up. "What happe-"
The entire right wall of the classroom caved in, and Stoneheart came crashing into the room. He didn't seem to notice all of the screaming students. He was pre-occupied with what sent him slamming into the wall: Cat Noir. He was still sitting there, but sheer terror had replaced the expression of pain he wore on his face only seconds ago. He was injured, but he was still fighting back, and that was the important thing.
Marinette's classmates grabbed her attention once again, and the part of her that was Ladybug began to take control. "Quick! Everyone! We need to go downstairs and find Mrs. Bustier!
The class raced downstairs, and there Mrs. Bustier was, talking to the principal.
"What are you all doing down here?" She said. "We're under lockdown."
"Sorry Mrs. Bustier, but our classroom caved in," Alya said. "Stoneheart crashed into it."
"I see. Okay everyone, we need to-"
A terrified voice came from outside.
"HELP! SOMEBODY! PLEASE, LET ME IN!"
